EAGLE COUNTRY Tonight we were entertained by the Country Duo Eagle Country, and they soon had us all up and dancing to some great Country music. Gordon and Marianne hail from near Padstow in Cornwall and when they are not travelling the country they help to run the Golden Garters CWC near Newquay.

It was another night of good ol' country music again, Gordon's deep rich west country accent lends itself so well to the old songs, and with a fair sprinkling of Froggie songs it was a great mix. Two of my personal favourites were My Rifle, My Pony and Me, and The Belle of the Ball were sung and I Ride A Horse had us all dancing at the end of the evening, which was great because we were filled to capacity

EAGLE COUNTRY, Gordon on rhythm guitar and lead vocals and Marianne on keyboard and vocal harmonies. An evening of all that's good in country music, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, George Straight and Waylon Jennings and plenty of Raymond Froggatt songs superbly performed by Gordon and there was one point in the evening when I thought it was Froggie, he sounded so very much like him. Again their choice of material was good and that very important item, the volume that was just right. Our free-style dancers were kept busy all night and they concluded their act by getting everyone on the floor to the strains of 'Best of Friends'.

EAGLE COUNTRY, a brilliant duo. We had a really good evening with a great atmosphere, everyone was really enjoying themselves. The dance floor was busy all evening. Classic favourites like Speak to the Sky, Red Hot Salsa, etc. Gordon has a good voice and Marianne plays very well, a great couple. We will be having Eagle Country at our club again next year. Can't wait for that night!

EAGLE COUNTRY. There is only one group we could end the year with – Gordon and Marianne gave us a wonderful night despite ‘help’ from a few backing singers! The hall and floor were full with dancers and the New year was seen in with style amongst friends. Eagle Country gave us their usual quality performance with a variety of music including a lovely Elvis medley and a long Virginia Reel medley. Finishing with ‘Best of Friends’ was a very fitting and the perfect end to the perfect night.

EAGLE COUNTRY. A bitter North Easterly failed to keep away our faithful followers who came to our dance. Marianne played in her usual talented way on the keyboard whilst Gordon accompanied her on guitar and sang in his own distinctive style, which is so suited to the many Country songs, which these two lovely people perform so well. Their programme was varied and so well chosen that both dancers and listeners were kept happy all evening. Gordon and Marianne spend many hours practising and learning new songs and they get better and better each time that we hear them.

Sundown CMC, South Molton, Devon

EAGLE COUNTRY. A great night as usual from this popular local duo, Gordon and Marianne. A lovely selection of old and newer songs, including Buy Me A Rose, Sloop John B, Seminole Wind, Closer, Tougher Than The Rest. Several medley were played and a great Barn Dance medley that had everyone on the floor. This duo know us well, know what we want, and make sure we get it.
